Karen Morton, or Kaz for short, is a maker, mum, wife and business owner for Kaz Ceramics. Her contemporary designs are bold in their uniqueness – even within each range, every piece has its own little quirks. I interviewed her for Behind Design, an online video series for realestate.com.au's Lifestyle brand that showcases Australia's best designers and makers.
“There’s a measuring tape in the studio but it’s got dust on it and it’s never been used – so everything is always a bit quirky,” Karen says.
This quality of difference has become an intrinsic part of the making process for Karen, which can sometimes take a bit for others to comprehend.
“Sometimes I get a phone call from the stockist saying there’s a big dint in the side, and I say ‘no that’s actually meant to be there, that’s my thumb print!’.” Read the full article
